Financial Literacy for Teens

10-Day Project Based Curriculum

The goal of this 10-day short course is to impart financial wisdom through interactive projects that will lead students to a better understanding of how to make, manage, protect, and save money. This curriculum is built around a series of three in-class projects that are hands-on and extremely relevant to your students' financial future. The Financial Literacy for Teens curriculum is flexible and easy to integrate into any middle or high school course.

The comprehensive Teacher's Guide includes a complete 10-day lesson plan, as well as all necessary reproducible student handouts. To get started, each student will need a copy of the Financial Literacy for Teens Student Book and the educator will need one Teacher's Guide and one reproducible master of the Reading Comprehension Test.

Reading Comprehension Test
The critical messages of Financial Literacy for Teens are revisited and reinforced as students work through an in-class, open-book test. A series of multiple choice questions challenges students to retain the financial wisdom that they have been exposed to through this course. One short essay question enables students to express, in writing, how the straight-forward messages of this book and curriculum have changed the way they think about money.

Note: The pre/post reading comprehension test for Financial Literacy for Teens is not included with the teacher's guide. Reproducible "Masters" of the test are available for purchase through the order form on this site or by calling (706) 342-9189.

Student Evaluation
Student performance in this course is based on project participation, financial calculation accuracy, and an open-book reading comprehension test to be given on the final day of the course.

The Financial Literacy for Teens project based curriculum correlates to the national standards from the JumpStart Coalition on Personal Financial Literacy.
